The Paleo Diet (also known as the Caveman Diet) is a diet meant to optimize nutrition by simulating the original human diet, which consists primarily of grass-fed meats, seafood, fruits, vegetables, and nuts. This is based on new scientific evidence which has found that the grains and processed foods we are primarily dependent on, are lacking in 13 key nutrients. On top of that, the average human life expectancy actually went down drastically when agriculture was introduced. By reducing recent additions to the human diet as well as artificial foods and returning to the dietary staples that humans were, and still are, built to survive on, one can counteract the majority of modern, chronic illnesses, such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune problems.

· All of the lean meat, fish, seafood, eggs you can eat (Note that by lean meat, we primarily mean grass-fed beef, which is much lower in fat than feed-lot or grain-fed, much nutritionally superior and closer to the meat our early ancestors ate. · All of the non-starchy vegetables you can eat
· Plenty of fruit
· Moderate healthy fats
· Moderate nuts and seeds
· No grains or cereals at all
· No legumes
· No dairy products (eggs are meat)
· No processed foods – make it yourself!
· No sugars. Agave, organic honey, molasses, pure spun golden sunshine….it doesn’t matter. They are all equally bad for you.
· No artificial sweeteners. These are not food! Creepy laboratory products with sketchy safety records, artificial sweeteners have been shown to produce an insulin response (On that note, it probably wouldn’t hurt to avoid most artificial additives, including nitrates, and nutrient deprived table salts.
